Today I learned that, even if I am uncomfortable around someone for any reason, I don't have to buy into their drama. Volunteering at an event for 150 people, I decided to keep busy, positive, and upbeat. Happy and funny are also helpful--though not required! I tried to keep my eyes open for things that needed doing--mindful of the fact that I was there to make the guests feel welcome. Making sure that people were comfortable, especially our special guests. In fact, it was necessary to move one of the two honored guests, as they each brought their spouses (which we had not anticipated, for some reason--duh), and we had them at one 6' table--obviously not big enough for four. I just moved some brochures and flyers from another table, and moved one of the guests and his wife to that one. Everyone was happy.
It's a great feeling to review the day's events and feel proud of just about everything you did. Today was one of those days and, as a result, I feel calm and centered. I LOVE calm and centered! [SIGH]
